The Fairmont Ajman is one of the latest luxury hotels to have opened its doors on the stunning corniche of the Emirate of Ajman. Ajman has been flourishing in recent years due to multiple investments made by the local government in tourism infrastructure.
"Stunning setting, personalized service, unparalleled culinary offerings, and both luxurious and ultra-modern facilities - the Fairmont Ajman lacks nothing to deserve its place as the best 5-star hotel in this small coastal emirate.”
GETTING THERE
Ajman is just a 30-minute drive from Dubai. It’s easy to reach the Fairmont Ajman from other emirates. Located near the border between Ajman and Sharjah, you can follow the corniche that connects the two emirates to arrive there.
If you’re coming from further away, such as Ras Al Khaimah or the new Dubai, it’s recommended to take Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and exit at the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club. You’ll then arrive directly in the city and be just minutes away from the corniche and the Fairmont as well.
Most of the 5-star hotels and resorts in the Emirate are concentrated along its beautiful corniche, including the Fairmont Ajman, which opened just 2 years ago.
The setting
The Fairmont Ajman is impressive from the moment you arrive, with its height compared to neighboring hotels and its pyramid-shaped architectural design.
Nestled on the tip of the Arabian Gulf, on one of the most popular beaches in the Emirates, the 14-story hotel with 252 rooms and suites, opened in May 2015, offers spectacular views of the crystal-clear waters and fine sandy beaches of the emirate.
With an immaculate 200-meter beachfront, the Fairmont Ajman has the proportions of a truly luxurious resort.
Developed by a local architecture firm, the hotel aims to represent the heritage and culture of the destination. This has been perfectly achieved by skillfully incorporating the natural elements of desert sand and sea into the architecture. Inside, the spaces filled with light, fresh, and vibrant colors evoke calm and serenity.
The journey begins in the majestic lobby, where you’ll be warmly welcomed with a cup of Arabic coffee and local dates – a Bedouin tradition. You can enjoy these while taking in the clear view of the Arabian Gulf.
The hotel’s central area features a vertical light tunnel thanks to a glass ceiling. The turquoise and azure accents of the lobby furniture, intertwined with complex geometric shapes, come to life.
The suspended chandelier above the lobby is impressive and one of the most photographed spots in the hotel, as our host told us…
THE ROOMS
The rooms at the Fairmont Ajman are decorated in a contemporary style, providing a sense of well-being and freshness from the moment you enter.
Each of the 252 rooms and suites in the resort is luxuriously appointed with rich furniture and artfully placed art objects.
Upon arrival, a welcome message made of rose petals arranged by the hotel’s room service team made us feel at home.
Combining classic style and comfort, each room offers an ideal setting for relaxation as well as workspaces. Almost all of the hotel’s rooms offer unobstructed views of the sea, providing a gentle awakening or a special moment enjoying a drink from your room’s balcony.
On the horizon, the azure blue of the sea and sky merge, creating an exceptional spectacle at sunset. In the distance, you’ll spot boats waiting to dock at the emirate’s port.
Our bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub from which you can watch the TV in your room through a large glass window and a sound system installed in the bathroom.
Leisure & Well-being
The Fairmont Ajman features leisure and relaxation facilities that meet the exceptional standards of a 5-star hotel. The huge temperature-controlled infinity pool and the exceptional 200-meter beachfront will be your favorite playgrounds during your stay.
Cabanas are also available for hotel residents looking for a bit more privacy. Equipped with mattresses, cushions, and fans, as well as a space for meals, cabanas are available during pool opening hours, and you can order drinks or food from the central pool bar located just a few steps away.
The hotel’s gym is fully equipped for cardio and strength training and also features a sauna and hammam in its locker rooms. Two large billiard tables are also available to residents in the hotel’s Xolo restaurant-bar.
The hotel’s spa, managed by a local chain, offers a wide range of treatments, eight treatment rooms, and an authentic hammam experience in a room with a central marble table.
GOLF AT FAIRMONT AJMAN
The hotel has partnered with the renowned and brand-new Al Zorah Golf Course, located just a few kilometers from the Fairmont Ajman. The Al Zorah course is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful golf courses in the region.
Nestled amidst the mangroves, water is a constant presence throughout the course. It’s surrounded by approximately one million square meters of mangroves, presenting a unique challenge for players as the tides transform the course with each season.
Al Zorah is a world-class course specially designed by the renowned Nicklaus Design group. The spectacular par 72 Al Zorah Golf Club course features perfectly maintained fairways and greens, giving you the sensation of playing on a billiard table throughout the course.
The beauty of the location is undeniable, with breathtaking backdrops such as the grand mosque of Ajman, the city’s skyscrapers, or the expansive mangroves.
We tried Al Zorah during our stay at the Fairmont Ajman and were amazed by the unique gaming experience offered by this course.
Visitors to Al Zorah Golf Club can also enjoy a beautifully structured pavilion housing several restaurants, the pro shop, and locker rooms.
CULINARY EXPERIENCES
The Fairmont Ajman offers an impressive gastronomic selection, bringing together cuisines from around the world and allowing everyone to satisfy their culinary desires during their stay.
There are no less than nine restaurants and lounges within the hotel’s culinary offerings, each with its own specialty or theme. Here’s an overview of the restaurants at the Fairmont Ajman:
Spectrum
Spectrum is the international gastronomic restaurant and main restaurant of the hotel. This iconic restaurant is designed as an interactive multi-cuisine venue, offering flavors from around the world. We had our breakfast at Spectrum daily, but the restaurant also serves lunch and dinner every day.
The buffets at Spectrum are impressive in terms of quantity and quality. You’ll find a wide selection of locally sourced or imported products, skillfully prepared and combined by the many chefs of the hotel.
The restaurant is organized into several stations for each meal, with themed offerings for lunch and dinner, such as the Indian cuisine area with curries, the Asian cuisine area with stir-fried noodles and sushi, the cheese area, the meat and grill area, and more. A restaurant that definitely deserves a visit during your stay at the Fairmont Ajman.
Gioia
One of the signature restaurants of the Fairmont Ajman, Gioia provides the perfect setting for a traditional Italian lunch, where you can enjoy the spectacle of chefs busy in the open kitchens.
Gioia delights its guests with delicious and generous Italian cuisine from starters to desserts. It’s hard to make a choice because the entire menu is appetizing and invites you to a journey.
Among the dishes to try without hesitation are the minestrone or seafood soup, risottos, or salmon pasta. Such a delight that we returned to Gioia twice during our discovery stay!
Al Badr Lounge
Badr is the hotel’s lounge area that offers a unique view of the resort and the sea on the horizon. The privileged place to admire splendid sunsets, enjoy a drink, or smoke a shisha.
Al Badr offers a selection of Turkish teas and gourmet teas, served with Turkish pastries or assortments of dried fruits.
Shishas can also be customized, which is quite unique in the region.
Kiyi
This authentic Turkish restaurant, located just below the Al Badr Lounge and designed in a traditional imperial Ottoman setting, is one of the most memorable culinary experiences of our stay at the Fairmont Ajman.
Kiyi takes guests on a culinary journey through the flavors, colors, and aromas of historic Turkey, with dishes derived from the traditions of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. A perfect place for a shared meal with family or friends, following the tradition of Turkish meals.
The restaurant’s setting is sumptuous, and you’ll dine in a cozy atmosphere, either on the central majlis on the floor or at one of the restaurant’s tables with dimmed lights creating a unique ambiance.
The menu is extensive and offers a variety of cold and hot mezzes and Turkish gastronomy classics, from main dishes to desserts. A restaurant to visit without hesitation during your stay.
Driftwood
An original concept and location for this beachfront restaurant. With a natural decor made up of recycled materials and objects, this Caribbean-influenced restaurant is the ideal place for a casual lunch or dinner with your feet in the sand.
Without pretension, Driftwood offers visitors a simple menu focusing on grilled meats and seafood, with some side dishes.
Another essential spot at the Fairmont Ajman for observing the sunset…
