Reviewed : Asia landed on the captivating island of Bali, and more specifically, on the shores of Nusa Dua Beach, to indulge in a stay at the Conrad Nusa Dua Bali. Our detailed experience review awaits you below.
getting there
Conrad Bali sits in the heart of the Tanjung Benoa area. Thanks to the newly constructed Mandara Toll Road, a bridge over the sea, reaching the resort from the airport now takes a mere 20 to 30 minutes.
Tanjung Benoa is renowned for its watersports, offering an array of thrilling activities. On the Conrad private beach, you can relax while witnessing the captivating spectacle of flying fish, banana rides, jet-skis, and parasailing boats, each providing an exhilarating rush of adrenaline. Additionally, the iconic Balinese Uluwatu temples are just a short drive away from the resort.
The setting
The allure of Conrad Bali as a wedding destination is undeniable, a fact we discovered during our stay. The resort is meticulously crafted around immaculate lawns, gardens adorned with frangipani and tropical flora, as well as abundant water ponds and cascading waterfalls.
The setting is ideal for special occasions or leisurely getaways. The resort’s backdrop of natural beauty also creates striking opportunities for memorable souvenir photos. Water and fire are elemental motifs within the hotel’s design. Water surrounds you wherever you tread, and come nightfall, torches illuminate the property, transforming its ambiance.
The resort boasts an impressive number of pools, and while we lost count after reaching four, the crown jewel is undoubtedly the lagoon pool. Stretching uninterrupted from the East to the West wings, it features attractive sandy sections, quite possibly making it the largest pool we’ve ever encountered.
"Whether you're a family, a couple seeking romance, celebrating a wedding, or embarking on a honeymoon, Conrad Bali caters to a diverse range of traveler preferences.”
THE ROOMS
Comprising a remarkable selection of 20 room categories, Conrad Bali’s spacious rooms and suites seamlessly blend sophisticated decor with Balinese culture. Accommodations are divided between the luxurious guest rooms of the main resort and the secluded Conrad Suites in an exclusive wing.
The latter offers private pools, lounges, and entrances. The Deluxe Lagoon room we enjoyed provided direct access to the lagoon pool, offering a convenient pathway from our terrace into the inviting waters. This amenity is perfect for an invigorating morning swim or a refreshing dip at any time of the day without leaving your room.
While the main resort rooms cater well to couples, the suites wing offers expansive quarters suitable for families or those seeking more seclusion. These suites, complete with a generous lounge area, kitchen and dining space, separate bedroom, and bathroom, grant access to a private swimming pool distinct from the rest of the resort.
The suites also include entry to the Suites Lounge, where daily afternoon tea followed by cocktails enhance the room package benefits, an indulgence we had the pleasure of experiencing during our stay.
Leisure & Well-being
Conrad Bali ensures a host of entertaining and enlightening activities for all ages. Whether lounging by infinity pools or mastering the art of sailing, the resort caters to diverse preferences.
Swimmers can indulge in the lagoon pool spanning the entire resort, the main rectangular pool ideal for swimming laps, or the serene beachfront with its calm Indian Ocean waters.
The resort’s private 350-meter beach offers further recreational opportunities, such as jet-skiing, kayaking, and banana boat rides, adding a splash of excitement to your stay. Sport enthusiasts can partake in daily beach volleyball and soccer matches.
The Kura Kura Club caters to children aged 3-12, offering a schedule of supervised activities like cookie-making and treasure hunts. The club fosters learning about Balinese life and culture through activities like kite-making, dressing in national attire, and learning traditional dance.
Morning yoga sessions are hosted on a Balinese gazebo floating atop a lotus pond, offering serene exercise. The Wellness Center extends a variety of exercise therapies, including yoga, Pilates, meditation, and flexibility training. The gym provides a range of cardio equipment, free weights, and machines for those seeking self-guided workouts.
The Spa Experience:
Jiwa Spa, named after the Bahasa Indonesian word for soul, encapsulates Indonesia’s ancient culture fused with modern amenities, resulting in an unparalleled, award-winning Balinese spa experience.
Featuring a crystal-clear pool, sauna and steam rooms, and picturesque standalone pavilions amid water gardens, Jiwa Spa offers a private and serene ambiance. Combining authentic Indonesian wisdom with contemporary spa therapies, the Conrad spa team orchestrates an exquisite spa journey. Facilities encompass 10 treatment rooms, five private spa villas surrounded by water gardens, two pool pavilions, a steam room, sauna, whirlpool, hydro plunge, along with a hair and makeup boutique.
During our visit, we indulged in the Ocean Flow massage, Conrad Bali’s signature spa treatment. This aromatic massage, characterized by personalized essential oil blends and fluid, acupressure-inspired strokes, emulated the rhythm of ocean waves. The experience was so tranquilizing that it took us a few moments to reorient ourselves once it concluded.
Jiwa Spa’s extensive menu also includes honeymoon packages, facial and body treatments, organic therapies, poolside massages, and other indulgences.
Cultural Enrichment:
Conrad Bali presents an exclusive cultural immersion and sourcing program, delving deeper into the essence of Bali—the ‘Island of the Gods’—and its inhabitants. This program facilitates connections with Bali’s famed artisans and offers soft adventure experiences like trekking, biking, and running.
We embraced this opportunity by embarking on an early morning bike expedition with a hotel guide, venturing along Nusa Dua’s beach to a local tourist spot—a rock cliff above the sea where crashing waves create a mesmerizing spectacle. Such excursions offer insights into local life and uncover hidden gems.
The hotel also extends Indonesian language lessons, village visits, Balinese dance tutorials, and cooking demonstrations, all contributing to a culturally immersive experience.
Reflection Lounge:
Guests with early arrivals or late departures enjoy complimentary access to the Reflection Lounge. This comfortable space, equipped with shower and changing room facilities, TVs, sofas, and even a pool table, offers a relaxing sanctuary while waiting for airport transfers or check-in times. Food can be ordered and delivered directly to the lounge.
CULINARY EXPERIENCES
RIN:
RIN marries traditional Japanese cuisine with a global twist, offering an array of entrées, soups, and main dishes. Sushi, sashimi, yakitori, teppanyaki, and teriyaki dishes, each prepared in the authentic Japanese manner, grace the menu.
Our dinner at RIN featured the Chill & Dine set menu, a recommendation we wholeheartedly endorse. Anchored by a four-course menu, the evening’s highlight was the Hot Stone Cooking—a captivating and interactive dining experience.
Delivered raw to the table alongside a heated stone, your choice of meat or fish can be seasoned and cooked according to preference, offering a uniquely engaging way to enjoy your meal.
RIN also serves breakfast for suite residents. The refined breakfast selection aligns with the restaurant’s Japanese heritage, featuring international options and customizable eggs from the menu, accompanied by freshly squeezed local fruit juices.
