The Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is one of the latest 5-star resorts to have opened its doors on the shores of the fine sandy beaches of Fujairah.
A charming hotel with refined luxury and a distinct taste for contemporary art, Reviewed : Asia tested it for you over a weekend…
"How can one not fall under the spell of the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort? Far from the oversized complexes, the Fairmont is an endearing hotel that guarantees you personalized and tailored service from the attentive hotel staff.”
The setting
The new Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, located by the sea at Mina Al Fajer, Dibba, is only a 1.5-hour drive from Dubai. In other words, a true boon for those seeking a weekend getaway or “local” holidays in the Emirates. It is also an ideal hotel for tourists looking to spend a few days outside Dubai to explore the rest of the country.
With just 180 rooms and suites, this sanctuary of luxury impresses you from the entrance with its unique style that skillfully blends modern decoration and traditionalism. The monochrome black and white color theme, found throughout the complex, is a true masterpiece of creativity designed by the international interior design consultant Stickman.
A warm welcome awaits upon arrival, where the hotel staff will assist you promptly. At the reception, the check-in process is swift, and you can refresh yourself with a local drink and dates while finalizing the usual procedures and collecting the keys to your room.
Once again, the size of the hotel allows for tailored and personalized service.
The Fairmont Fujairah is adorned with modern art pieces installed throughout the complex and even in the rooms. From the furniture in the lobby to the wall and ceiling coverings, as well as the decorations in the restaurants and leisure areas, there are no fewer than 50 works of art that have been carefully distributed throughout the resort.
The overall ambiance of the hotel is characterized by a striking black and white decor, with also a few touches of turquoise that create a sublime contrast
THE ROOMS
With a total area of 80 square meters, our suite had more the appearance of an apartment than a hotel room!
A perfect modern interpretation of luxury imbued with Arabian design and furniture, each room is equipped with a private outdoor balcony where you can admire the ocean or the marina of the hotel complex.
Each of the elegantly furnished rooms offers a peaceful view of the Gulf of Oman or the idyllic marina. This is a real advantage due to the orientation of the hotel, facing the sea.
Equipped with an outdoor private balcony with sun loungers, our suite also had a spacious work area, a lounge area, a separate bedroom with its own spacious balcony, a bathroom with a shower and bathtub, and an additional bathroom for guests.
Whether as a couple or a family, each person can find their own space of privacy during their stay. In general, the rooms at the Fairmont Fujairah are larger than average. By limiting the number of rooms in the complex, priority has been given to the well-being of guests.
As expected, all modern comforts are available in the hotel’s brand-new rooms, including an espresso machine, a large flat-screen TV in each room, an audio system in the bathrooms, and intelligent control of the room’s lighting.
Rooms designed for individuals with special needs or limited mobility are also available upon request.
Leisure & Well-being
At the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, there is no need for a buggy to move from one part of the complex to another. You can easily move from your rooms to the reception, restaurants, or even the beach club in just a few minutes.
The complex has two pools. A pool located just below the main building, dedicated to relaxation by the water’s edge, welcomes residents from sunrise to sunset.
Further on, a beach club with a restaurant and bar is also available to hotel guests, with a DJ creating an atmosphere on weekends.
Around this second, much larger infinity pool, there are also a few cabanas, mini suites by the water’s edge, for those seeking a more private experience.
The Lava Beach Club pool, named after its dominant orange and red colors, also has several differently sized jacuzzis. An ideal place to spend a tranquil afternoon…
A water sports center at the hotel’s marina allows thrill-seekers to try jet skiing and other water sports.
For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel’s gym is of high quality with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. Plus, you’ll also have free access to the spa’s hammam, sauna, and tropical showers by using the gym!
A wide range of massages is available at the Fairmont Fujairah’s Willis Stream Spa, one of only two in the Emirates. With 4 treatment and massage rooms and two VIP suites, the spa is a true haven of peace for those wishing to enjoy a special relaxation moment during their stay.
Featuring numerous relaxation areas and lounges, the spa also has separate facilities for men and women, including a traditional hammam, a sauna, a steam room, and sensory showers.
A retail area offers a selection of products designed to help you recreate the Willow Stream Spa environment at home, while a beauty salon for women is at your disposal to provide nail care and other beauty services.
Several facial treatments are also available, as well as special treatments and massages for the feet, hands, back, or shoulders for those who wish to focus on these specific areas of the body.
We opted for a 60-minute full-body massage. It was a true sensory awakening, with a gentle touch and essential oils, expertly provided by our therapist.
Open every day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
CULINARY EXPERIENCES
The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Canvas, offers an interactive experience with live cooking stations that blend products from different Middle Eastern and Asian regions. The restaurant’s design is an eclectic blend of modern bohemian and Arabian influence, with a massive wrought iron entrance that opens into a light and airy space. We enjoyed our daily breakfasts at Canvas.
Open every day. Breakfast 06:30 AM – 10:30 AM; Lunch 12:30 PM – 03:30 PM; Dinner 06:30 PM – 10:30 PM.
The Copper Lobster
As an ode to the Omani lobster found in the region’s waters, this seafood restaurant offers a daily menu based on the catch of the day. The restaurant’s name is inspired by the locally captured lobster, which has a unique copper-like color. The cuisine focuses on creatively and deliciously preparing local seafood.
As a nod to the maritime history of the Emirate, the restaurant, with its nautical-themed decor, also features a London-style gourmet bar and a display of fresh fish, as well as vast aquariums where you can choose your own lobsters or other live crabs.
We enjoyed the Copper Lobster for one of our dinners, where we could savor an exceptional seafood basket including lobsters, shrimps, crabs, fish, and regional shellfish. Copper Lobster also serves seafood soups, the catch of the day available for purchase by weight, and a selection of freshly chosen local or Canadian lobsters living in the aquarium.
Open every day from 06:00 PM to midnight (closed on Mondays).
IAMMAI
Inspired by the Arabic word for water, its name (pronounced ya-mai) literally means “I Am Water.” Downstairs, a bar and submerged bar serve light snacks throughout the day. Upstairs, a terrace lounge with a view of the resort’s pool and the sea on one side and the mountains on the other offers the same menu, but also Shisha from sunset.
Whether immersed in the pool or perched up high, the breathtaking view of the mountains and the ocean will captivate you – a delightful way to end the day.
We had one of our dinners at IAMMAI on the terrace, enjoying a unique view of the entire resort, the sea, and the mountains.
For dinner, Iammai offers a menu inspired by local cuisine and international classics.
Open every day, from 09:00 AM to midnight, Shisha service is available from 06:00 PM.
Café Pronto
An Italian café-bistro with an “al fresco” concept and an exceptional coffee bar. At Pronto, you can savor delicious dishes from sun cuisine: risottos, pizzas, fresh pastas, and daily soups fill the restaurant’s menu. You can dine in a relaxed atmosphere sitting on sofas or comfortable seats.
A special mention for the coffee menu, offering a Nespresso mixology experience. Mojito coffees, rose-flavored cappuccino, mango or almond macchiato – you can savor a unique and creative selection of coffees in a cozy indoor or terrace setting.
Pronto also has an ice cream bar that will delight the sweet-toothed.
Open every day, from 11:00 AM to 07:00 PM. Closed on Tuesdays.
Arteasan
A lounge located in the hotel’s reception area, and as the name subtly suggests, it is dedicated to teas from around the world. You can choose exceptional teas from an impressive menu that offers a selection of exotic teas accompanied by pastries freshly prepared by the hotel’s chefs.
The setting of arteasan is also remarkable, with large wicker armchairs and a decoration in immaculate white tones. An ideal place for relaxation or to sit with a book and gently end the day.
Open every day from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
